When Does A Garden Become Big?

DSC_9230 - Version 2

Last month was an important one for CASLworks orchard and herbary.

Both the orchard and herbary have notably expanded during this short period.

The number of raised beds has nearly tripled. They are now found in two general areas.

The first area is the north-west corner of the estate which features perennials herbs. It is becoming a pleasing arrangement of raised beds. A new patch of raised beds was added in the south-west quarter. This patch is the new veggie-fruit area of the orchard (i.e. the botanical fruits that we consider vegetables, such as cucumber, tomatoes and hot peppers).

The wilderness under the lilac has been tamed and reinvented as a second circular garden. It is the same size as the first circular garden. This new ringed garden contains annual herbs except for a few lupins.

On top of these new framed gardens, additional rows and borders were also planted last month.

I’m afraid these newly established gardens are not much to look at now. But we all know they will grow into a bounty of blogposts in no time. In the meantime, I will leave you with a few photos taken in the front garden.

I must go now… for if I stay away too long from my garden, I develop a bleeding heart.

A suivre……..

A Garden becomes big when you notice all the movement within it. More importantly it is alive.
