The Christmas Controversy

DSC_4828 - Version 2

Indeed, Christmas is approaching and it seems that the Christmas Controversy continues.

By this, I am referring to the issue surrounding whether various secular bodies such as government, media, advertising should mention Christmas or use generic terms such as the holidays. While I agree with secularism (the separation of church and state) the use of the term Christmas does not ruffle my feathers at all.

Many may try to convince us of the religious and true reason for Christmas. I understand and respect that this time of year can be powerful for believers.

At the same time, one should not forget that many symbols and behaviors surrounding Christmas come directly from pagan traditions and festivals. What’s more, these pagan symbols and behaviors pre-date Christianity. You want some examples? – caroling, Christmas tree, mistletoe, holly wreaths and yule logs.
Admire your partner’s effort lowest price for levitra to get you panic or show that the medication is somewhere harmful to you. This was not a levitra price pamelaannschoolofdance.com stand-up guy in any sense. Given the numerous and often conflicting demands for reform, leaders and managers must create coherence in improvement efforts (Jonathan Supovitz and Susan Poglinco levitra generika 40mg 2001). For instance, driving, working machinery, heavy cheap viagra in usa lifting and so on.
But for me, this debate regarding the religiousness, paganism, or secularization of Christmas is moot because I am afraid I have a hard time seeing past the abject capitalism, consumerism and commercial tone that now surrounds Christmas.

Despite all of this and my secular bias, I assure you that you can wish me a Merry Christmas and this will make me smile sincerely and give you a big hug.

Joyeux Noel Stefan .
