The Smell of Roses

I often conduct little garden experiments. I can’t help it – it’s how my little brain works.

During our walks, I noticed a patch of wild roses growing by the lake. They were in the border that is left to grow naturally right by the edge of the water. I returned often to pick rose petals from this patch for my herbal tea. I can attest to the wonderful smell that fills the house when I dry rose petals in the dehydrator. I love the smell of roses.

Well, it didn’t take long for the gardener in me to realize that I wanted to have rose bushes. What to do? How about an experiment to see if I can make some cuttings take root? Yep; I’m game for that little garden experiment.

I took several cuttings and planted them in 5 pots with soil. I cut some large clear plastic pop bottles to use as mini-greenhouses that fit perfectly over the pots. Then, these cuttings took a featured spot in my indoor light garden and I held my breath to see if they would root.

I waited. And I waited.

I did let go of that breath I was holding.

Yes, I love my little garden experiments and I love the smell of roses.

Quelle belle histoire de fleurs ! !
