A Greater Power

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about today. So I am writing about belief and the hope for a greater power and a heaven waiting for us.

The truth is, I hope there is some a form of heaven and/or another afterlife, but my faith is failing me. My so-called faith was compromised a long time ago. The more I know, the less hope I have.

I envy those people with a strong religious belief; they seem to have a calmer life than I do.

But, do they really?

I just don’t get why all the suffering people are going through in the world. Think of the starving children in Africa and the many forms of injustice people go through.

The many explanations I have heard are just not good enough. I don’t think religious beliefs are the answers to all of this, but the cause of it.

This is a great post, Carlos! In my opinion, being religious is not the same as being spiritual. We all know the zealots who kill and maime and judge on behalf of a religion. I think religion is all about power over and control of the masses. We each walk a personal and private journey in this life. I agree that it’s very hard to watch the cruelty and inhumanity and suffering and feel helpless and sometimes hopeless. But I have learned that I have to be at peace with doing what I can. The best I can do is work on my own spiritual growth and hopefully pull some along with me.

Nice set man. I think everyone has that hope and belief.

Well said and shot Carlos. I’ve often said that it would be great to believe but this leopard can’t change his spots. Cheers!

VERY deep subject for you today! If there isn’t a “nice” place like Heaven to go after we die, there would not be a reason to all this learning and suffering we do.

I agree with Helene that being “religious” and “spiritual” are two different things. People who boast that they are so good are really not so good. They are usually the worst hypocrits of all!
